This is a tincture of wild-grown rose hips from the dog rose or Rosa canina. Harvested from un-spoiled land in the NY Finger Lakes. Each hip is washed, dried, and trimmed before using. Tinctured in 80 proof alcohol for a minimum 60 days. Extraction ratio 1:2. This is a one-ounce or two-ounce amber glass bottle with dropper.
Dog roses are widely naturalized in temperate climates and can become invasive. They grow as a deciduous shrub with arching, thorned stems. Rose hips are edible, and are used in jams, jellies, syrups, vitamins, and more. The seeds, however, are surrounded by very irritating hairs, and are best removed before consuming.
